Stoned Ape
2022
︎ 90’s Nostalgia
︎ Psychedelic
︎ Drum n Bass
Microdosing has been adopted by more and more people as a treatment for depression and other issues, as well as a means for cultivating positive psychology and understanding more about consciousness.
Stoned Ape is an upbeat homage to 90’s video games, specifically Ape Escape and the quirky drum n bass stylings of Soichi Terada. The low poly video references the graphics of the original Playstation, and explores Terrence McKenna’s theory that humanity evolved in symbiosis with psychedelic mushrooms. As our species develops a renewed appreciation for these mushrooms, where will we evolve next?
3D Modeling and animation by digital artist Andrzej9k, with music, writing, direction and production by VPC.
Stoned Ape is the first single off of Virtual Perfection Cowboy’s upcoming album, Energy Mirror.

Breakdown
2022
︎ Dreamlike
︎ Melancholy
︎ Expansive
Breakdown has shown in several film festivals including the 2023 Beverly Hills Film Festival and VietFilm Festival 2022.
A VPC collaboration with director Hon Hoang, to establish both the emotional content of the score as well as the sound design, combining the two in a single unifying work of audio. The score is composed of ambient string textures, evocative of memory, and cyclical, creating a meditative trance and symbolizing the main character’s rumination and longing, with a plaintive violin melody played by Miko Shudo.
